TYT TUN DATO’ SERI UTAMA AHMAD FUZI BIN HAJI ABDUL RAZAK MAKES SPECIAL VISIT TO ICONIC MEDICARE’S RM200 MILLION GLOVE AND FACE MASK MANUFACTURING FACILITY
PENANG, 08 JUNE 2022 –TYT Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Bin Haji Abdul Razak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang has today made a special visit to the RM200 million glove and face mask manufacturing facility by Iconic Medicare Sdn Bhd (“Iconic Medicare”) in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Penang.
In conjunction with the visit, Iconic Worldwide Berhad (“Iconic Worldwide” or “the Group”), Managing Director Dato’ Tan Kean Tet handed over 200,000 pieces of disposable medical masks worth RM140,000 as a gesture to support TYT Tun’s ongoing efforts to help those in need. Iconic Worldwide Executive Directors James Tan, Katherine Tan and Jason Chung were present during the event.
Meanwhile, TYT Tun was accompanied by Ahli Parlimen of Batu Kawan YB Puan Kasthuriraani A/P Patto and ADUN Bukit Tambun YB Goh Choon Aik.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Tan Khoon Hai was also present as a guest during the event.
The visit involved a tour of Iconic Medicare’s twelve (12) double former glove dipping lines and twenty (22) medical face mask production lines, which are able to yield a production capacity of 3.5 billion pieces of gloves and 220 million pieces of face masks per annum. TYT Tun was then adjourned to Iconic Hotel for lunch and a taste of Iconic’s homegrown durian brand.
Iconic Medicare is the fully-owned subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia listed Iconic Worldwide, which is primarily involved in tourism, property development and manufacturing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
To recap, the RM200 million glove and face mask manufacturing facility in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Penang was officially launched on 15 January 2022 by the Penang Chief Minister Tuan Chow Kon Yeow.
The Company had in April this year passed an environmental, social and governance (ESG) responsibility audit as per the SMETA methodology, which was carried out by a third-party international audit firm. Iconic Medicare was officially certified for its glove manufacturing business after going through a 4-pillar SMETA audit scope.
Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audits (SMETA), one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world, is founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organization, as well as relevant local laws. It comprises modules such as labour standards, health and safety, management systems, environmental assessment and business ethics.
